The Lakehead University and Lake Superior Division Alpine work in partnership to deliver the LU Alpine Club Ski Team.

Athletes train regularly with the LSDA Ski Team in Thunder Bay at Loch Lomond Ski Area and Mount Baldy Ski Hill.

Athletes can race in a variety of race types:

  1. Midwest Conference of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association: USCSA. There are 35 post-secondary institutions participating in the Midwest Conference and more than 2000 skiers across the USA representing the 6 conferences.  University of British Columbia is the only other Canadian University competing in the USCSA.
  2. Thunder Bay Senior Ski Association Senior Circuit – Thursday night training and racing.  See website at: TBSSA Loch Race Training.
  3. Local National Points Races
  4. Regional FIS Races

See video below where former Thunderwolves skiers Kyle Yates and North Johnston describe their experience with the LU Ski Team.  Both athletes raced FIS for the 4 years they attended LU.  Both improved their FIS points profiles and both won regional FIS races.
